Sunnyside Class of 1959
62nd Class Reunion
September 11, 2021
The Class of '59 celebrated its 62nd Reunion on September 11, 2021, hosted entirely and financially by Daryl and Lana Jackson in their home town of Moses Lake. We met in an airport hangar at the Municipal Airport amongst beautifully decorated tables created by Lana, in our school colors, and a huge table set up with an awesome display of wonderful appetizers.
The afternoon began with a free guided shuttle tour of Moses Lake International Airport and city of Moses Lake. Many of us were in awe to learn we have such an amazing facility right here in our own state. Upon returning to the hangar, the entire afternoon was spent happily snacking and laughing, while visiting, reminiscing, and catching up with each other's lives.
Daryl and Lana treated us to a lovely catered dinnner Saturday evening, plus an awesome breakfast the following morning, prepared by their son, Darren Jackson, for those spending the night in Moses Lake.
As you will see in the photos , which will be posted soon, we are now the proud owners of a new 'Class of 59' banner provided to us, so generously by the Jackson's.
This reunion was down somewhat, number wise, with 30 in attendance, which possibly can be attributed to the fear of Covid, prior committments for the weekend, and a couple last minute health emergencies.
The consenses of the classmates present was to plan for a 65th reunion, three years from now, in 2024! Dan and Suzi Martinez once again, so very graciously have offered their home in Moxee for this party. It was reported we have $1602 in our bank account at this time! We shall also continue with our "Class of 59' Web site which is paid for to 2025. We can discuss its continuation at the 65th.
Again, a huge THANK YOU to Daryl and Lana for all their generousity and hard work in making this event so wonderful and such fun! A great time was had by all!
SUNNYSIDE CLASS OF 1959
60th Reunion
August 24, 2019
The Class of 59 had its 60th Reunion hosted by Dan and Suzi Martinez at their home in Moxee. With forty plus members present the afternoon was spent with a lot of great reconnects, conversations and marvelous food. This crew can still “get it on!!”
Members discussed the current format for our “get togethers” and are looking at the possibility of doing something like this every couple of years now or, if desired, making this a yearly event. Somebody did mention that “we ain`t getting any younger”. We will solicit your input later in the year and see where everyone might want to go with this thinking.
Classmates did determine that they wanted to continue the “Class of 59 Webpage” which will need to be renewed by November of this year. The cost to us will be approximately $500.00 for five years. You also wanted to keep the current format that we have been using, i.e. a potluck with the class funding the barbecue meat and any other incidentals (plates, utensils etc.)
To fund this your classmates in attendance “passed the hat” and raised $1862.00.
AMAZING!!! Needless to say we can pretty much do what we want.
To reiterate, a great function, well attended with the consensus of those present, let`s do it again and soon!
Special thanks to Dan and Suzi for being such gracious hosts and to everyone who worked so hard to make the event successful. Special “Kudos” to Bob Shockley and Juanita Gant who were the “movers and shakers” that made sure this all happened
A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ONE AND ALL
Great job, fun time, those of you who missed the party, see you next time!!
